IABC Utah presents “Strategic Employee Communication to Support Engagement.” The meeting will be held May 20, 2008 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westminster College, Tanner Atrium (North of the Shaw Student Center), 1840 South 1300 East Salt Lake City, Utah.Employee and customer satisfaction is the goal of most organizations. Claire Howells, vice president of human resources at Zions Bancorporation, will discuss Zion’s path to employee and customer engagement solutions, the management of this process in a decentralized environment and the critical role that effective communication plays in this process.

Luncheon cost for IABC members is $18 for pre-registering online or $20 at the door, $25 for non-members and $15 for students.

Claire L. Howells is currently Vice President, Employee Engagement and Communications for Zions Bancorporation, a SP500 listed, multi-bank holding company and national leader in SBA lending and public finance advisory services (NASDAQ: ZION, $52b. assets). As a communication strategist, Claire engages with senior management to effect the development and implementation of learning and communication strategies for the Corporation’s 12000+ employees across 8 states.

Claire joined Zions as Human Resources Analyst in November 2005, promoted to AVP, Learning and Communications Advisor in mid 2006, and to the current role in Sep 2007. Prior to this, Claire held key leadership positions within companies based in Perth, Western Australia, working as a development specialist to motivate and facilitate the achievement of strategic organizational outcomes. Being well versed in many industries including not-for profit, telecommunications, recruitment and financial service, Claire’s experience in consulting, management, marketing, finance, communication and organizational effectiveness, is grounded in a Customer Service background.

Claire earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Australia in 2005. She is certified in Psychometric evaluation and Targeted Selection and is a professional corporate Facilitator, Presenter and Master of Ceremonies.

Claire’s community involvement includes partnering with organizations such as Australian Red Cross, The Road Home, and Utah’s Aged Care Facilities. She is an accomplished flautist and enjoys world travel.
